About Us

Book day arrives at St John's!

The staff embraced the dressing up day 3 clue challenge-can you guess who we all are?

On Friday 8th March, we celebrated World Book Day. The theme of our day was 'Graphic Novels'. From the beginning of the day there was a buzz of excitement in the air. Who were all these characters coming into school?

As well as guessing characters from clues or costumes, we also had a visit from Gary Northfield, a graphic novelist who has contributed to Beano comics, Horrible Histories and Horrible Science books as well as that he has written his own series of 'Julius Zebra. books (https://www.garynorthfield.com/about-me/). Gary led two workshops, one for KS1 and the other for KS2. All the children were really engaged in the session and produced great pirate-based comic stories. Gary also signed some books for those avid fans of his! We also opened a new section of Graphic novels in the library, which we were able to stock using the money from the Book Fair.

A great day was had by all!
